The Elk County Visitor's Center

The Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette, Pennsylvania is a joint project of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Keystone Elk Country Alliance. The Magic Lantern was the audio-visual contractor and worked with the client for several years developing exhibits, producing software and installing hardware for the new center. Among the attractions is the "4D Story Theater" and over a dozen touchscreen interactives.

The story of the history of elk in Pennsylvania and the relationship between that story and our need to be good stewards of the land we have been given is presented as a campfire program featuring a family group of Lifecast figures and a three screen high definition video presentation with Dolby 5.1 surround sound. The show also features many special effects including rumbling seats, a fiber-optic star ceiling, snow and scents.

Working with the KECA and PA DCNR, The Magic Lantern developed and produced an array of touchscreen interactives that allow visitors to record sounds, snap wildlife photos, learn about PA flora and fauna and explore the state parks in the Elk Country area.

In 2019 we were contracted again to make a new film for the center after the large success of the Elk Visitor Center and the theater. The new film includes 6k and 4k footage as well as aerial drone footage; much of which was not widely available at the time of creation of the first video.

Above is a clip from that film.

This is a clip below is from the first film we made for the Elk County Visitors Center
